Reese's Arrival
Reese Elizabeth arrived on Thursday, January 29th at 2:18pm. She weighed in at 7lb 6oz and 20.25 inches. Ryan and I had to be at the hospital at 5:30 that morning for my induction. When I arrived at the hospital I was still only 2cm dilated. They started the pitocin around 7:00 and Dr. Lusk came in to break my water at 8:00. I got my epidural around 9:30 and I was 4 cm around 10:00. Around 11:30, I started feeling some of the contractions so they came back in to give me some more juice. With Mia I had a hot spot with my epidural and had a very painful labor. Dr. Lusk assured me that they would be more aggressive this time. Around 1:45 the nurse came in to check on me. Ryan, Chas and myself were just sitting around chatting. She checked me and I was 10cm. They called Dr. Lusk. I pushed through only 5 contractions and my little Reese was born! It was pretty much a painless labor - granted she weighed a full pound less than Mia!
We were able to leave the hospital the next day. We've been home for 2 1/2 weeks now and I'm completely smitten with her! She is such a good baby. She only gets up twice during the night - a big change from the way her big sister was as a baby! Mia loves her and wants to kiss, love, and hold her ALL the time! This time around, Ryan is a complete natural. I feel like we're both more relaxed with this baby. I think we feel like we know what we're doing a little better! My mom and Ryan's mom rotated being here for the first week with us. They were a huge help in cleaning and allowing us to get some sleep.
As you can see from her pictures, she looks exactly like Mia looked as an infant. At her 2 week check up she was 8lb and 21 inches.
It's funny, because before she was born I wondered if I would be able to love another child as much as I love Mia. I guess i knew I could, but it was just hard to imagine. It's amazing how much bigger your heart gets with another child! Ryan and I are so lucky and blessed to have 2 beautiful, healthy daughters!
